Mrs. Melissa Bosman

Second Grade

I’m Melissa Bosman and this is my fifth year teaching at STREAM. I'm looking forward to another great year teaching 2nd grade!

I was born and raised in Marin County and moved to Chico in 2011 to pursue a bachelors in Liberal Studies and a minor in Spanish at Chico State. Once I graduated, I went into the credential program where I had the opportunity to student teach in both a Spanish-immersion kindergarten classroom (taught in 90% Spanish and 10% English) and a fourth grade classroom. I truly loved teaching both grades, which left me feeling very open to teaching any grade K-5.

I spent my first year teaching 5th grade, which was a great year, then had the opportunity to move to 2nd grade the following year. I fell in love with 2nd grade and I have been there ever since! This is now my eighth year teaching and seventh year with 2nd graders. My first three years of teaching were all spent at Paradise Elementary School until we lost our school in the Camp Fire. This was an extremely challenging time in my career, but it opened this new opportunity for me to come to STREAM, which I am forever thankful for. Starting my first year at STREAM in my own classroom with the chance to re-create a place of love, learning, community, and growth is a feeling that I will never forget and I strive to continue each and every year!

I live in Chico with my husband Ryan, our son Parker, and our golden retriever Kinley. I spend most of my free time outdoors; camping, backpacking, kayaking, or on off-road adventures. I love cooking, reading, spending time with my family, and crafting.

I'm so excited for this coming school year and to get to know my students and their families!
