Mrs. Melissa Frasier - Kindergarten
Kindergarten rocks! Our classroom may be one of the busiest and loudest, but that is how you know we are learning. Some of the great things we do in our classroom include publishing our own book, using iPads to create Lego movies, and studying the butterfly life cycle by raising caterpillars to butterflies and releasing them in the butterfly garden we planted! Not to mention all the fun event days we have and exciting field trips where we get to ride in a bus (one of the highlights according to the kids) to go watch wonderful plays at Chico State or go to the Books Family Farm. Kindergarten at STREAM is a place where real life and learning go hand in hand.
I am a third-generation Oroville resident and a Las Plumas High School Alumni. I have a bachelor’s degree from CSU Chico in Liberal Studies with an area of concentration in art, as well as my teaching credential and MA in Education. My three lovely children keep me busy between cheer, rugby, and football games but I love watching all of them play! When I am not on Pinterest looking for more great ideas for our classroom, I enjoy traveling with my husband and kids. Our favorite places include any beach, lakeside retreat, or amusement park. We also enjoy playing board games together and the completion can be fierce!
This year we will have Miss Wylie from Chico State as our student teacher in the fall and we will also be welcoming a new instructional aid, Mrs. Denton. We are excited to have them join our team. It really does take a village!
I love to make learning exciting, so most of our math and literacy stations are game based which reinforces the skills we are working on to get ready for first grade. Add in daily music and PE classes and our kindergarten day is full and busy! Watch for pictures and updates about our classroom on the STREAM Facebook page.
