Mrs. Gwen Friberg - Learning Loss Mitigation Coordinator and Intervention Specialist

My name is Gwen Friberg and I am on assignment this year as the Learning Loss Mitigation Coordinator and Intervention Specialist.

I began teaching over two decades ago in Kern county and moved to Oroville in 2008 where I taught in the Palermo District for several years.  In 2013-14 I had the incredible opportunity to be a part of Stream’s founding team and got to work with an amazing group of people to help open our city’s first charter school.

We opened stream in 2014 where I taught 1st grade and haven’t looked back since!  I have always believed in the philosophy of student engagement, hands on discovery, staff collaboration and meeting student’s where they are at in their learning.  At Stream I have been very blessed to implement these values in my classroom and now have the privilege of working with students on a deeper level, filling in any learning gaps and being a part of their success.

Over the past two years, my passion for understanding the intricacies of the reading processes have deepened and I have furthered my knowledge and experience through multiple professional development courses.  I am currently working on a certificate through the LETERS reading program and am looking forward to furthering my understanding of how to meet the needs of struggling learners.  I truly believe I have the best job in the world!

Along with teaching, I am a mother to four incredible sons, 2 young adults and 2 high schoolers as well as being married for 23 years to an amazing man!  We soak up our family time together hiking, kayaking, watching our sons’ soccer games and family BBQ’s.  On my down time I practice yoga and enjoy playing the piano.

I love my family, community, and the opportunity to serve at Stream!
