Mrs. Cami Bright - Sixth Grade

Hello, my name is Cami Bright (formerly Vierra) and I am excited for my fifth year here at STREAM. I cannot wait to continue working with the STREAM 6th graders!

I grew up in the Bay Area and as a youth was involved in sports, music, leadership, and yearbook. Many of these activities led me to seek a college that would offer similar hobbies and extracurriculars. Just after graduating high school, I moved to Chico, California to pursue my undergraduate career. I received my B.S. in Health Education in 2016 with the aim to teach health at the secondary school level. Throughout my time at Chico State, I had the opportunity to work and volunteer for a program —CAVE (Community Action Volunteers in Education), that allowed me to follow a passion of mine that translated into providing valuable community service to a community I had grown so fond of. After graduating, I went on to work for The Boys and Girls of the North Valley in Chico for three years as a summer camp counselor and after-school program lead staff which gave me an opportunity to run and lead programs educating youth. This experience encouraged me to pursue the teaching field for both elementary and secondary education.

Prior to entering the credential program at Chico State, I had the opportunity to serve as a yard duty in the Chico Unified School District which gave me valuable insights into school policies and behavior management. I went on to finish the credential program student teaching within the Chico Unified School District at Emma Wilson Elementary (5th grade) and Parkview Elementary (1st grade).

At CSU Chico, I received my multiple subject credential and single subject credential to teach health education. I will be utilizing this authorization to explore some state-mandated and health-related topics this year with the 8th-grade class.

As of April 2021, I experienced two wonderful, life-changing events. I obtained a Masters's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University- located in Arizona, and I became a mother to my first daughter, Addison.

When I am not at school I enjoy many outdoor recreational activities and spending time with my family.

I live by the motto “Life is For Learning” and therefore strive to fulfill it in everything I do.
