Mr. Devin Thomas Co-Director/Principal Email: dthomas@streamcharter.net Contact Number: 530-534-1633
My name is Devin B. Thomas. I was born and raised in Southern California and spent my formative school years driven by a singular passion: sports. While my single-minded passion for athletics helped me excel on the field, it left much to be desired in the classroom. I knew I wanted to continue playing sports after high school and decided college was the perfect place for me. Colleges, however, were not too fond of my lackluster transcripts, and I realized I needed to apply myself in the classroom the same way I did on the field. I enrolled in junior college and transferred to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, graduating with a degree in Liberal Arts.
I have a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and a teaching credential and have worked with youth and young adults for over 40 years. I have worked as a coach, youth counselor, teacher of multiple subjects, high school principal, dean of students, athletic director, and even adjunct professor at Point Loma Nazarene University.
My wife and I have enjoyed the quiet life in Oroville for almost 10 years now, where both of our sons graduated from the Oroville High School District. I am an active member of the community, serving on several boards and coaching basketball.
I enjoy, in no particular order, boxing, golfing, reading, public speaking, and watching the Lakers, Rams, Angels, and UCLA Bruins (football and basketball). If any of the aforementioned teams play poorly, please approach me with caution.
Mrs. Ellen Hamilton Co-Director/Finance Email: ehamilton@streamcharter.net Contact Number: 530-534-1633
I am super excited to come to STREAM as the new Co-Director. I grew up in Butte County, lived in Chico the majority of my life, and moved to Oroville two and a half years ago. I come to you with 17 years of experience as an educator, where I taught English, Health, and English Language Development. I spent five years teaching high school, three years teaching junior high, six years as Director of State and Federal Programs, two years as Assistant Principal at the Elementary School, and one year as a Middle School Principal. During my years of teaching, I also worked as a part-time English instructor for Butte College for 6 years. I have been with students from all different grade levels.
I am first generation and grew up in Northern California. Growing up, I was always reminded and encouraged to go to school and succeed by my parents, who were illiterate in English and Hmong. During my time at school, I struggled with my identity, being torn between two cultures. I had a teacher who worked with me in English and encouraged me to get excellent grades. She showed me that I can succeed in whatever I put my mind to as long as I don’t forget who and where I came from. Who I am and was were the foundations for me to pursue higher academics. Through her love and encouragement for me to succeed in school, she helped me find myself as a Hmong American and what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wanted to be a teacher like her and make an impact on people’s lives the way she made a difference in my life. I have been blessed with the opportunity to become just that- a teacher and now administrator.
I am big on family and big on my relationship with my church/small group. I love to read, eat, and travel. I am hoping to someday finish my biography book and share my life stories with others.
Mr. Teng Yang Dean of Students Email: tyang@streamchater.net Contact Number: 530-534-1633
I’m Teng Yang- native to Oroville. I was invited to be one of the Founders of STREAM. It has been such a great pleasure to serve at STREAM in different roles, such as Learning Center Coordinator, PE, and now as the Dean of Students. I have never thought to be working as an educator while going to school, but I am working in my 16th year in the education field. I am currently working towards my Master’s and credentials to be finished in 2025. Being my 11th year at STREAM, I am still burning with a desire to serve students in this community.
One of my parents’ biggest achievements is having their 10 kids graduate from a 4 year college and beyond. I am the 5th child married to my wife, Kia. We have 5 children and currently 4 attending STREAM. Some of the things my family and I enjoy doing are fishing, hiking, camping, and sports. I recently got into disc golf and am enjoying it quite a bit. I also coach soccer for many years and am currently coaching for OYSC and Butte United.
Growing up in Oroville and seeing the growth of what the community has gone through has inspired me to be part of the process. The most enjoyment I have serving students/players is being able to share a life experience with them that can be made into a memorable moment. My hope and desire are to be able to give students the tools and confidence to make a sound decision when life asks for one.
Mrs. Sarah Thompson Transitional Kindergarten
This is my first year teaching at STREAM and I am excited to be here! For the last twenty years I have taught everything from TK to 6th grade, but mostly TK, Kindergarten and first grade. I was raised in Biggs and graduated from Chico State with my multiple subject and reading specialist credentials. As a kid I came to Oroville frequently to visit family, go to the movies, and for yearly dance recitals at the State Theater. So I am so happy to contribute in any way I can back to the local community.
I enjoy participating in trainings and educational communities that will help me add more learning and fun to our class. This includes Phenomenal Science, the Math Time Project, Global Learning, NorCal ELC, and most recently I participated in a Data Icons training at Chico State. I picked some great new lessons I can’t wait to share with my TK class this year. I love being able to connect with other teachers in the North State and benefit from each other’s experiences. I have also developed science lessons of my own and shared them with other teachers through Chico State. Some of these have been online, which gave me the opportunity to learn how to build my own hyperdocs. I enjoy using technology in my teaching and also sharing these skills with students when they are ready. Young children are capable of so much and will always surprise me with what they teach us.
I have eleven nieces and nephews who are currently spread out all over the country, so they give me a good excuse to travel when I’m not at school. I also enjoy spending time with my two wonderful dogs and getting out to Bidwell Park with them to enjoy nature.

Mrs. Sydney Coleman First Grade
Hi, I’m Sydney Coleman! I absolutely love teaching first grade and look forward to an exciting year of learning!
It’s an absolute joy to watch my students develop as writers and foster a love of reading! It’s my greatest joy to witness students’ confidence grow as they learn to problem solve, construct a story, or progress in their reading! I look forward to making real connections to our learning in first grade!
Along with teaching, I am the mother of two incredible daughters, a wife, and together our family cares for our sweet golden retriever and our flock of chickens. Together we enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors, and spending quality time with family and friends.
I am excited to be entering my fourth year of teaching at STREAM, I can’t wait to see students learn and grow!

This is my first year teaching 1st grade and my first year full time at STREAM. I have been subbing in the Oroville area for 15 years and the last two of those here at STREAM. Before that I taught 4th and 5th grades in New Mexico and Colorado for 10 years. I am most excited to have a group of students and classroom to call my own this year!
I grew up in Colorado and moved to Oroville when I got married 15 years ago. We now have 4 children, 3 of which also attend STREAM and the oldest is starting high school this year. These kids keep me very busy with school, soccer, football and swim team
When I’m not teaching or running my children to all the different sports events, I love to travel and enjoy reading!

Mrs. Melissa Bosman Second Grade
I’m Melissa Bosman and this will be my sixth year teaching at STREAM! I’m looking forward to another great year teaching 2nd grade.
I was born and raised in Marin County and moved to Chico in 2011 to pursue a bachelors in Liberal Studies and a minor in Spanish at Chico State. Once I graduated, I went into the credential program where I had the opportunity to student teach in both a Spanish-immersion kindergarten classroom (taught in 90% Spanish and 10% English) and a fourth grade classroom. It was such a great experience to put my degree and my minor to use and get experience working in the classroom. It also left me feeling open to teaching many different grade levels.
I spent my first year teaching 5th grade at Paradise Elementary School and then I had the opportunity to move to 2nd grade. I fell in love with 2nd grade and I have been there ever since! After we lost our school in the Camp Fire, I had the opportunity to come to STREAM and it has been one of the biggest blessings in my life. This is now my ninth year teaching and eighth year with 2nd graders and I couldn’t be happier to continue my career at STREAM. Teaching is truly my passion and I strive to be a more effective, knowledgeable, and skilled teacher each and every year. A classroom and learning environment that encourages and promotes high expectations, a loving atmosphere, student success for every child, and a place where parents know that their child will be treated with respect and fairness, is what I strive for as a teacher. I want your child to be somewhere that I would be happy to send my own children.
I live in Chico with my husband Ryan, our son Parker, and our golden retriever Kinley. We are also expecting our second baby in November! I used to spend most of my time on outdoor adventures, but life has slowed down a lot for us as we are soaking up our time as a new family. I love cooking, reading, crafting, and taking my son on smaller adventures. He’ll be offroading, rooftop tent camping, and hiking with us soon enough!
I’m so excited for this coming school year and to get to know my students and their families!!

Mrs. Kelly Thao Education Specialist, ELPAC Coordinator
Hello and Welcome! My name is Kelly Thao, and I’m thrilled to be one of the 2nd-grade teachers at STREAM Charter School! With a passion for teaching and a heart full of excitement, I’m entering my sixth year at STREAM, ready to make this the best year yet.
A Journey of Learning and Growth:
My teaching adventure began as an Educational Specialist, supporting exceptional students from Kindergarten to 8th grade. I then embraced the challenge of teaching in an Autism Only Special Day Class, where I honed invaluable skills in literacy, numeracy, social, and life skills. I believe every child can achieve greatness when equipped with the right tools and resources tailored to their unique needs.
Educational Background:
I hold an A.S. degree in Social and Behavioral Health Sciences, a B.A. in Liberal Studies with a minor in Special Education, and two teaching credentials in General Education and Special Education Mild/Mod. My background in Special Education enriches my approach in the General Education classroom, allowing me to cater to diverse learning styles and needs.
Life Beyond the Classroom:
When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me tending to my lovely garden of succulents or cherishing moments with my beautiful family. I’m a proud mom of two sweet baby girls who are my greatest joy. Together, we love embarking on road trips, enjoying ocean fishing adventures, hosting food parties, and indulging in cozy nap parties.
Our STREAM Community:
The vibrant culture at STREAM Charter School, dedicated to nurturing future leaders through academic excellence and life skills, is a dream come true for me. I’m eager to inspire my students with a lifelong love for learning and to make a lasting impact on their educational journey.
Let’s make this year unforgettable, filled with curiosity, growth, and endless possibilities!

Miss Madison Johansen Fourth Grade
My name is Madison Johansen (Miss Johansen) and this is my third year teaching at STREAM!
I was born in Oroville and attended Butte College for two years. After I finished at Butte College I transferred to Sonoma State where I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies, and then went on to get my Teaching Credential as well. Upon completing my Teaching Credential I moved back to Oroville where I was a substitute in almost every district in town. Following this I moved to Humboldt County where I accepted my first full-time teaching job in the 5th grade. I taught 5th grade for two years before deciding to return to Oroville. As I returned to Oroville, I looked to STREAM first for a job. I worked with many of the staff members while I did ASP for STREAM during the first two years the school was open, and I knew it was a place I would love to teach!
Outside of teaching, I love being outdoors, and traveling whenever I can. I love spending time with my family and friends.
I am now one of STREAM’s fourth grade teachers, and I am looking forward to another fabulous year!

Mrs. Stacey Gramps Fifth Grade
I am very excited to be a 5th grade teacher here at STREAM! I began my career as a substitute teacher where I was privileged to experience many different grade levels and classroom settings. I worked mostly in the primary and elementary schools, but had the opportunity to step in the high school setting a time or two. I am a lifelong learner myself and through substituting, coaching and being a Girl Scout leader, I found the joy of mentoring students and young people in exploring new opportunities and education. I later became a full-time teacher in a multiple grade-level classroom and have never looked back.
Education to me is not just reading, writing and mathematics. Education is an experience that includes hands-on exploration, questioning, sharing, respecting and finding the enjoyment of completing a task and trying even harder the next time. Education is something that students should crave not dread. Failure is also a part of learning and it is important that students understand that. In my classroom, my goal is always progression, teamwork, learning to work independently and most importantly, finding the love of learning.
Other than teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I have three wonderful children, a husband who is also in the field of education, a pug named Molly and a chiweenie named Milli. My family is my world. We love swimming in the summer, paddle boarding and kayaking, fishing and enjoying any outdoor activity. In the winter months, we enjoy playing games together, especially card games. Most importantly, we love and support each other through anything.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I believe the educational experience is best served when both parents and teachers are committed to a partnership that focuses on a student’s best interests. I look forward to that partnership.

Mrs. Taylor Rodowick Fifth Grade
Hi! I’m Taylor Rodowick. I am so thrilled and excited to be a part of the STREAM family as one of the new 5th grade teachers! This is my first year at STREAM and my 5th year of teaching. I previously taught third grade in Yuba City for four years.
I was born and raised in Chico, CA and where I currently live with my husband, Jacob, and our two cats and one dog! After high school, I attended Butte College before transferring to Chico State; where I then graduated in 2019 with my bachelor’s degree before attending the credential program. I knew I have wanted to be a teacher since I was in second grade, so this is exactly what I’m meant to be doing!
Outside the classroom, you can find me doing anything outdoors like hiking in Upper Bidwell Park, kayaking, camping, biking or even just taking a nice, gardening or even relaxing stroll in the park. My family and friends mean the world to me so you can also find me with them!
As your student’s teacher this year, I will promote and encourage high expectations and build a safe community in our classroom to ensure every student can feel successful and to achieve. I strive for your student to leave fifth grade, feeling prepared for middle school, but also have the important life skills to make them a respectful and responsible individual in our community and beyond.
Looking forward to this great year!

After finishing high school at Las Plumas I went to further my education at Butte College where I received my associates all while playing softball full time. Afterwards I transferred to Chico State where I received my bachelors in Liberal Studies as well as my teaching credential.
When I am not working, you can find me snuggled up at home with my cat, Sonny, watching movies, or reading. I also cherish and love being around my family or friends, playing board games, traveling (mostly to Disneyland), or doing anything active outside.

Mr. Chairun Combs 6-8 Mathematics
Hello, my name is Chariun Combs (My name is pronounced K- long I -Roon) and I am teaching junior high math and 7th grade social studies for STREAM. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Chico State University and a single subject teaching credential. I have over ten years of experience teaching math. I have lived in Chico for over 25 years and am hoping to relocate to Oroville.
As a teacher, my goal is to foster a love for learning all subjects, critical thinking and a general respect for education and expertise. I firmly believe that learning starts with having a positive mindset and this is developed through teaching ourselves the incredible things we are capable of when we experiment, struggle productively and practice a community of encouragement and respect. I am extremely thrilled with how respectful and hardworking STREAM students are which makes coming to work every day special. The staff and teachers are welcoming and go the extra mile in everything they do.
Outside of teaching, I have a love for drawing, painting, film, sports, traveling and reading. A personal goal of mine is to travel to as many places as I can. With our genius hour program, I get to share many of my hobbies and interests which only adds to my joy in being a teacher.

Mr. Cheng Yang 6-8 Science
I’m Cheng Yang. This will be my second year at STREAM.
I have 9 siblings and is the 8th child in the family. I’ve been married for 6 years and I also have a boy.
My professional journey has led me into education, where I became a biology teacher. This means I get to teach students about animals, plants, and the fascinating world of science. In 2017, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science from Chico State University. Those years of studying opened my eyes to the natural world and equipped me to share that enthusiasm with my students.
Sports like tennis and soccer have a special place in my heart, as they offer not only physical activity but also camaraderie and friendly competition. The thrill of the game and the bonds forged on the field make these sports a cornerstone of my recreational life.
But it’s not just about me; community is equally significant. I’m actively engaged in the Hmong Church community, where I find fulfillment in contributing my time and efforts. Being part of a collective, where everyone strives to make a positive difference, resonates with my values.

Mrs. Kari VickeryK-6 Music, TOSA
I was raised in Yuba City and graduated from Sutter High School. As a youth, I was enamored with the geography of the Oroville area and took many opportunities to hike around in the beauty of the foothills (Feather Falls and Bald Rock remain favorites). I had long wished to make this area my home, and now we have lived in the mountains outside Oroville for ten years and plan to stay put in the home that we built.
Another favorite California region is Humboldt County, where I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology at Humboldt State University. I also pursued a path toward choral and solo vocal performance and theater while at HSU and continued after graduating. Singing in choirs has always kept me grounded and fills my cup.
I earned my teaching credential from CSU, Chico, in 2005. My family has moved quite a bit, and I have substitute taught in every location we have lived, including the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York, where I also worked as a laboratory teacher at SUNY Adirondack. I kept singing in community choirs throughout my early adulthood, and instruction in singing and choral performance is a passion I am eager to share. This is my ninth year teaching at STREAM. It has been a joy to see our school grow and flourish, and I am proud to be a part of it!

Mr. Matt ManeraK-8 Music and Band
My name is Matt Manera, and I am the Music Teacher at STREAM. I taught the Las Plumas/Oroville Drum Line for 8 years as a part time teacher. LP/O was the program that I participated in when I was in High School, as I am Oroville born and raised. I love Oroville. It is my home, and am excited to see it growing and changing in recent years. STREAM is an instrumental part of that growth, and I can not be more excited to be a part of the team!
I spent 2 years as an Assistant Pastor in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania from 2010-2012. This was a formative time in my life, and it was fun to experience another part of the country for a couple years. But at the end of my time, I was given the option to stay, but I knew I had to come home. Oroville called me back, which is why I want to see it grow as a place. I have been at STREAM since the start, and am excited to see it continue to grow!
In June of 2019 I got married to my wonderful wife Julianne. She has a Masters in Chemistry. She is truly my better half! Together we have a wonderful little lab mix named Olive. You may have heard of her from your students, we love to sing about her in music time :
In my free time I love to watch the A’s, go to the movies, and play my guitar. I love listening to Podcasts, and audiobooks. I also lead the Praise Band at The Table, a church in Thermalito. I am an avid retro video game collector, all the old systems and games. I love to play Mario and the like on the weekends.
I am so excited to be a music teacher at a school that offers music time for kids every day. This is so rare in this area, so I love that student’s lives can be enriched through music at STREAM. I look forward to building the program, and am excited to share our music in the local events, such as the Veteran’s Day Parade, Christmas Light Parade, and Feather Fiesta Day’s Parade!
Let’s grow this community together, and partner to see Oroville become the “Gold City” that we all know it can be!

Mrs. Carly BrownK-2nd Tech. Teacher
My name is Carly Brown. This is my twelfth year teaching, but my third year teaching at STREAM. I am excited for another year teaching technology to kindergartners through second grade.
I was born and raised in Oroville, and have continued to live here. For my early education, I attended Palermo Union School District and Las Plumas High School. I then went to Butte College and earned an AA in Liberal Studies and continued my education at Chico State where I graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors. I also completed the credential program at Chico State, while student teaching second grade at Helen Wilcox and fourth grade at Golden Hills. I was hired at Palermo Middle School, and it is where I stayed for six years teaching sixth, seventh, and eighth grade. I decided to transfer to Helen Wilcox where I taught second grade for three years in my mother’s old classroom! I loved teaching both the older and younger grades.
While I am not teaching I am usually reading, writing, traveling, or spending time with my friends and family. I love to explore new places and go on adventures. My goal is to travel to all 50 states, and I am currently at number 37. Reading is a passion of mine, and I spend much of my free time sipping tea with a good book in my backyard. I also enjoy photography and writing and have published my first poetry book called the elements of you. I’m obsessed with Studio Ghibli, Star Wars, Marvel, Lord of the Rings, and a few other franchises. I live with my wonderful husband, calico cat, and an adorable husky.
I am so excited for this school year! Technology has always been a passion of mine. A few years ago I completed many technology courses through Chico State in order to stay up with the new programs, equipment, and devices. It was very educational, and I can’t wait to continue implementing them this year. I am looking forward to meeting all my new and returning students and to foster a love of learning through collaboration, critical thinking, innovation, and of course technology!

Mrs. Aiyana HansenK-8 Physical Education
I am looking forward to bringing my 7 years of teaching experience as a Physical Educator to STREAM. This will be my second year teaching at STREAM. I previously taught at Marysville High School for 5 years and coached Wrestling. I graduated from Chico State University with a Degree in Kinesiology Teacher Education and a Minor in Coaching. I grew up in Oroville with both parents as teachers, my mother at Palermo Middle School and my father at Yuba College. I attended Oakdale Elementary, Palermo Middle School, and Las Plumas High School. At Las Plumas I was one of the only female wrestlers in a time where wrestling did not have a separate female team. I have enjoyed contributing to the female wrestling community as a coach for the past 8 years. And I hope to inspire more girls to join the sport.
Prior to pursuing a career as a PE Teacher I was a Personal Trainer working with individuals with soft tissue injuries, musculoskeletal disorders, and chronic pain syndrome. This is what led me to pursue working in a career that focused on injury prevention, and the importance of health and fitness.
In 2020 my husband and I welcomed our daughter into the world. We are both excited that I am now closer to home. In our spare time we love to boat on Lake Oroville, camp, and spend time with our family and friends.
My teaching philosophy is to teach the whole student by focusing on all four learning domains, and to create a fun and safe learning environment. I am looking forward to teaching the younger generation and hopefully inspiring them to become physically fit and healthy for life.

Mr. Santos ReyesK-8 Physical Education
This year marks my fourth year with STREAM, and I’m thrilled to continue teaching Physical Education alongside the staff and students here. Before joining STREAM, I spent the last 18 years deeply immersed in fitness as the current owner and coach of Level 10 CrossFit.
I grew up in Roseville, CA and attended Roseville High School. After graduating I went on to study Sociology, as well as Philosophy and Theology at Point Loma Nazarene University. Currently, I’m completing my single-subject teaching credential at the Chico State School of Education.
My experience owning a gym has given me a profound understanding of coaching and teaching individuals from various ages and backgrounds. I bring this experience into my role at STREAM, with the aim of inspiring students to lead active lives and approach fitness with confidence. I strive to create a welcoming environment where students can explore new sports and games; seasoned athletes can push their limits, and beginners can develop their skills in a fun and supportive setting.
Outside of teaching, I love camping with my family and have a particular fondness for Fort Bragg and Crescent City, CA. I’m also passionate about training and teaching Jiu Jitsu. I’m excited that STREAM has integrated Jiu Jitsu into our “Genius Hour” program, and hope that I have the opportunity to further get to know your child(ren) in that setting as well.
My goal at STREAM is to contribute to our renowned Physical Education program by encouraging students to give their best effort, maintain a positive and productive attitude, and treat each other as valuable team members. I hope to maintain open communication with parents to ensure every child is supported and motivated to reach their full potential throughout this school year, as well as the years to come.

Mrs. Leia WrightState Reporting Coordinator, CAASPP Coordinator
Hi, I’m Leia Wright, and I’m thrilled to be in my fourth year at STREAM. My journey here has been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to connect with the children and collaborate with an amazing team. For the past three years, I worked as an aide in the kindergarten and 1st grade classrooms, and this year, I’ve transitioned into the office. I’m enjoying this new role and the opportunity to engage more with parents and staff.
I’m a wife and mother of three wonderful kids, who are currently in 2nd, 5th, and 8th grades. Before joining STREAM, I embraced the role of a stay-at-home mom, which I cherished deeply. I feel fortunate to be part of the same school community as my children, although my 8th grader might have mixed feelings about it!
In my free time, I love spending quality moments with my family, reading, and experimenting in the kitchen with cooking and baking. I’m excited to be at STREAM this year, supporting our students, their families, and the dedicated staff.

Mrs. Melissa SerekilevuHuman Resources Manager
I am fairly new to the staff at STREAM but I am not a new face around here. I am also not new to Human Resources. I am thankful that I can utilize my skills and still be able to see my younger children at school. My passion in life is my family, being able to laugh and being a part of an empowering environment that fosters those around me to learn, grow and empower others. I found an amazing fit for me when finding my way to STREAM. My children have been here for years, and then joining the team, I was elated.
We enjoy getting out as a family on the hiking trails, taking in the river and the lake or less adventurous things as well! We are thankful for the community around us that has made Oroville feel like home.
